We have sailed the C scow on Lake Michigan in 3-4 foot waves with a 12-15 MPH southeast breeze. The boats are short enough to go up and down the swells. Less chop than Oshkosh.

If it is real bad on the big lake we can race inside the break water (3/4 mile legs).

Have had the scow for 30+ years. A great day sailer and the wooden mast is beautiful.

Some wear on hull consistent with a boat of this age. Not sure of exact year, but in the 70s.

Comes with trailer, though it hasn't been on the road. We've been using it on Lake Chautauqua, NY and storing it on site.

Sail is in great shape. I'll try to post pics soon.

C-Scow Rudder wanted for 1965 wooden C-Scow

I am looking for a rudder for a 1965 wooden C-Scow. It's the design that is a large metal rudder with a long shaft that goes up the back of the boat from the bottom up and has about a 2 foot shaft attached to the top of the rudder. If anyone has one for sale or has any suggestions of where to look please let me know. Thanks!

I ended up contacting Buddy Melges and he set me up with someone who lived nearby with an extra rudder. Thanks for those that replied with suggestions!!!

1997 Melges C Scow with a 2002 (new style) mast. Boat is in very good condition with no major dings or cracks in the hull and a smooth bottom. The control lines have recently been replaced and the boat is covered when on the lift. Comes with four Quantum sails (2003 LM and 2003 Heavy used for club racing and a 2005 LM and a 2006 Heavy used only for regattas), full deck cover, bottom cover, rudder/tiller bag, tacktick compass, and a solid trailer. A lift on Clear Lake, Iowa, is also available if interested. This is the full package for a competitive racing C scow and a great way to get started with C boating. Asking $6000. 1998 C-Scow For $2500 In Maryland

Sorry, correct year is 1992 20' C-Scow. Comes with trailer and two sails (light & medium) and a storage cover designed to fit over the boom and around the mast while on the trailer. It has only been sailed lightly in fresh water and stored under cover for most of its life in Tennessee. I am the third owner and bought it just before a major job change and relocation; I now realize that I will be unable to use it. The hull below the water is in racing shape. The deck is almost perfect with one ding in the water gutter aft of the traveler on the center line and a few spider webs from docking on the bow. Standing Rigging appears original, mast and boom are sound. Stays are showing wear. Running Rigging is useable for day sailing or light club racing but hasn't been updated recently.

This boat has never been raced and is in excellent shape.
Inspection or more pictures are available upon request.

Located in Piney Point Maryland and will deliever up to 100 miles.

I need a sail.
