Burdick Family wins Nationals

57 boats rolled into Carsons bay to prepare to compete for the golden C atop their sails. Friday brough heavy to medium breeze decreasing throughout the day. Three gorgeous races were sailed on Friday. The motor boat chop was down and the sun was out. There are few days in sailing that were as perfect as the first day of C nationals this year. The end of the first day had the MO-44, Jon Martin winning the regatta. Racing was followed by pizza and beer and the fleet meeting (notes below).

Saturday brought lighter breezes with two races in the morning. While the intention was to try and get the last race in Saturday, the wind fizzled out around lunch to never return. No wind on Sunday left he Burdick family in the lead. Finn and Mya gave wonderful acceptance speeches (good practice for all the speeches to come I am sure) and were showered with alcohol free champagne. The crowd roared as top master, Ed Eckert walked up receive his trophy as one of the newest members of the master’s club. Kate Klement took the top girl trophy finishing the regatta in 6th and winning the last day with a 3-5.
