To Past and Present C Boaters,
As most of you know the 2012 US Sailing Champion of Champions regatta
will be held at Pewaukee Yacht Club September 27th -30th. Please mark
your calendars and check out the
link on the US Sailing web page.
In order to make this regatta a success for the C scow class, the ILYA
and the PYC, we need your help in 3 big ways.
- Boats. 20 one design champion sailors in 2011 and 2012 from around the
US will be selected by resume by the US Sailing CofC committee and
invited to compete in the regatta. With the addition of a Mystery
Guest, we will need 21 C Scows from the years 1999 to 2011 to be on
hand. All the boats will be insured and returned in the original
condition. We will be pre setting the jack stays, side stays and
limiting crew weight on the boat to reduce the possibility of mast
issues.
- Sails. We will be purchasing 21 new North sails for this regatta to be
pre sold before the event. All owners of the borrowed boats for the
regatta will have first option to pre buy a sail at a discount, after
that, it will be first come first serve on the sails, so sign up now to
reserve your spot on the list.
- Regatta volunteers. We welcome all present and
past C boat owners, family and friends to sign up to volunteer
during the regatta. We need spectator boats/drivers, grill guys or
gals, launching crew, meal servers and what I like to call “The C
Boat Regatta Experience” helpers to ensure our guest from around the
US experience a first class regatta, C Scow Style!.
We have already experienced great support from a select few C boaters. Boats
already pledged: Frentzel, Kaerek, S. Craig, F. Miller, Lanka,
Krech, Haeger (3), Eckert (2-3), Zeigler, Andert.
We still need a few more. Along with the boat pledges, I have
received good interest in the lightly used sails. Frentzel, Kaerek, S.
Craig, F. Miller, Rief, Biwer, Lanka, Krech, Haeger, Eckert, Zeigler,
Mills, Andert.
But again, we still could use more sailors to sign up to pre buy
a lightly used sail in September 2012. Please email or call me to sign
up to lend your boat, pre-buy a sail and or for further details if you
would like to be apart of this great event by signing up to volunteer.

Andy Burdick commented that there was great interest in new boats and
new boats on order for spring delivery. There is a lack of old
boats to help get new C scow sailors started and keep the fleet healthy.
Buying a new boat and getting the older gear in the pipeline is a great
way to keep the fleet strong.
